DESCRIPTION:in conjunction with Time Bound\, an exhibition by Cheeraz Gormon.\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nThis reading and panel discussion will be held in-person at Hoffman LaChance Contemporary. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nPoets Shiferaw Desta and Hermela Nebyu will read from their work\, then discuss the function of poetry within the African Diaspora. The discussion will be moderated by Jason Vasser-Elong. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nRSVP FOR THE EVENT\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nSCHEDULE\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n6:00 p.m. – Readings from Shiferaw Desta and Hermela Nebyu6:30 p.m. – Intermission6:40 p.m. – Panel discussion \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nABOUT THE MODERATOR\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nJASON VASSER-ELONG is the author of Shrimp (2Leaf Press\, 2018)\, a collection of poetry that examines identity in a post-colonial context. He has been featured in documentaries\, “Poetry in Motion: St. Louis Poets Take the Mic” and “Never been a Time” performing poetry\, and was recently featured in “Verse and Voice: The Podcast.” He holds a degree in anthropology\, a Master of Fine Arts in creative writing with an emphasis in poetry and is a doctor of education. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nABOUT THE EXHIBITION\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nTIME BOUND is on display at Hoffman LaChance Contemporary October 2 – 24\, 2026. It features Cheeraz Gormon’s photographic images and field recordings of Addis Ababa and Lalibela\, Ethiopia. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nPRESENTED IN PARTNERSHIP WITH\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nVENUE
