SUMMARY:Saint Louis Poet Laureate Coronation Ceremony
DESCRIPTION:Presented by the Saint Louis Board of Aldermen and the Poet Laureate Task Force\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nThe event will be held in-person at the City Hall Rotunda. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nPacia Elaine Anderson was officially appointed and sworn in as the fourth Poet Laureate for the City of St.Louis. The Saint Louis Poet Laureate will promote the art of poetry and encourage literacy and learning throughout the St. Louis region. Redmond & MK Sadiq\n\n\n\nFood from Parker’s Table\n\n\n\nFree parking in the Clark-side lot\n\n\n\nAll ages\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nABOUT THE POET\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nPacia Elaine Anderson is a visual\, spoken\, and teaching word artist who currently serves as the Program Lead of the Regional Arts Commission’s Community Arts Training Institute\, Program Coordinator for Good Journey Development Foundation\, and as a teaching artist with a host of regional organizations. She is the Missouri-St. Louis City Regional Coordinator for Poetry Out Loud\, the NEA’s national recitation competition. The St. Louis Visionary Awards named Pacia the Community Impact Artist for 2020-2021. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nFor several years Pacia served as assistant to inaugural St. Louis Poet Laureate Dr. Michael Castro. She is an Urban Bush Women SLI and a New Leaders Council-St. Louis alumnus\, and a founding member of the youth-based art camp Cherokee Street Reach. She also served as the past Liaison for the Great Rivers Greenway Artists of Color Council. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nPacia has served as a consulting artist and national workshop facilitator with Americans for the Arts’ Artists at the Community Development Table initiative and serves on the boards of Saint Louis Poetry Center\, Volunteer Lawyers and Accounts for the Arts\, and The St. Louis Art Place Initiative. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nVENUE
