DESCRIPTION:In conjunction with our September Observable Readings\, Saint Louis Poetry Center is thrilled to welcome poet Kristin Emanuel for the September Sunday Workshop! This will be a generative workshop. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nABOUT THE WORKSHOP\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nPoetry Comics! \n\n\n\nBy including visuals in our writing practice\, we can escape from creative ruts and embrace poetry’s dreamlike qualities. Poets like Bianca Stone\, Gabrielle Bates\, and Mita Mahato create surreal comics that involve collages\, ink drawings\, and paintings. The resulting images are striking: a man with the head of a bird\, a papercut whale\, and a human-sized ice cream cone in space. This workshop offers the time and art materials for you to craft your very own poetry comic. As a participant\, you need not identify as an artist or a poet; you need only bring your curiosity and imagination. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nGUIDELINES & REGISTRATION\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nPlease note: this workshop is limited to 15 participants. This will be a generative workshop. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nABOUT THE WORKSHOP\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nPoetry and the Senses \n\n\n\nIn this workshop\, we will explore ways of writing sensory experience. By rendering particular sensations with vividness and accuracy\, we imply an entire world. Using brief excerpts from poetry as models\, we will work collaboratively\, focusing on ways of capturing tastes and smells\, in particular. We will not aim for finished poems\, but strong sensory images that might form the basis of future work. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nGUIDELINES & REGISTRATION\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nPlease note: this workshop is limited to 15 participants. DESCRIPTION:This workshop will be held in-person at High Low. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nIn conjunction with our April Observable Readings\, Saint Louis Poetry Center is thrilled to welcome poet Devin Johnston for the April Sunday Workshop! This will be a generative workshop. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nABOUT THE WORKSHOP\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nPoetry and the Senses \n\n\n\nIn this workshop\, we will explore ways of writing sensory experience. By rendering particular sensations with vividness and accuracy\, we imply an entire world. Using brief excerpts from poetry as models\, we will work collaboratively\, focusing on ways of capturing tastes and smells\, in particular. We will not aim for finished poems\, but strong sensory images that might form the basis of future work. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nGUIDELINES & REGISTRATION\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nPlease note: this workshop is limited to 15 participants.
